Reducing feed bunk losses, zoonotic disease concerns and succession planning are the major topics that will be covered during the 2014 Dairy Cow College.

Dairy Cow College is a joint educational effort of the North Dakota State University Extension Service and Midwest Dairy Association (MDA) in cooperation with the NDSU Animal Sciences Department and the Extension offices in Barnes, Dunn, Emmons, McIntosh, Morton, Oliver, Stark/Billings and Stutsman counties.

The dates and locations for this year's programs are:

    Feb. 3: Linton, KEM Electric Cooperative

    Feb. 4: Dickinson, Elks Lodge

    Feb. 5: New Salem, Youth Building, Morton County Fairground

    Feb. 6: Jamestown, Gladstone Inn and Suites

Each session will begin with registration and coffee at 10:30 a.m. The program will run from 11 a.m. to about 3:15 p.m. local time.

The program will start with an MDA district update, followed by a local district milk producers' association meeting and an MDA-sponsored lunch. The Dairy Cow College educational sessions will be held in the afternoon.

Dairy Cow College presenters are J.W. Schroeder, NDSU Extension dairy specialist; Cole Rupprecht, an agriculture and natural resources Extension agent for Cass County; and Susan Keller, state veterinarian.
