SK Hynix Has Reported Revenues of KRW2.7 Trillion for The Fourth Quarter of 2012

South Korean chipmaker, SK Hynix, has reported revenues of KRW2.7 trillion ($2.4bn) for the fourth quarter of 2012, up 6%, compared to KRW2.5 trillion ($2.3bn) it reported in the corresponding quarter in 2011.

The company posted a net income of KRW164bn ($151m) for the quarter, compared to a net loss of KRW240bn ($221m) for the same period last year.

Operating profit was KRW55bn ($50m) for the quarter, compared to an operating loss of KRW106bn ($97m) for the same period in the corresponding year.

DRAM bit shipment increased 28% in the quarter, but the average selling price declined 10%.

The company said that the growth in DRAM bit shipment was driven by strong demand of mobile and server products and increased sales of low-price tablets in emerging markets.

The bit shipment for NAND Flash increased 19% in the quarter and the average selling price also rose 6%.

SK Hynix said the growth in NAND Flash bit shipment was due to release of new smartphones, tablets and the increase in Chinese smartphone market.
